How to keep up with your life-style (while protecting the planet)
If you haven’t crossed the numerous memes yet, you might have though it yourself: 2020 got cancelled. And, let’s face it. If your idea of fun, like ours, relied on travelling and worldwide events, it pretty much feels like it.
There is little doubt about the enormous impact that Covid-19 (or Rona if you don’t like numbers or beers!) has had on everyone’s life, regardless of their lifestyle and country of residence.
In our case, after 7 years of non-stop travelling and experiencing the most variegated and stimulant festival and art events around the globe, the advent of this dreadful virus has forced us to face a profound truth: we are all different yet function the same way.
Everyone is puzzled, bored and worried at the moment. Titles, labels, nationalities have all been swiped out and we are all on the same boat. Though, some of us, might feel even less at ease on such boat…

While up to few weeks ago, training, planning trips and un-/packing suitcases was a simple, mostly boring task that led us to live “the best of life”, now experts suggest that training mind and body, planning and performing manual labours are fundamental for keeping sanity.
Any well-written article or post about suggestions on how to “sanely survive” quarantine will stress about the importance of having a routine.

If you are reading this post, you are most likely a fashionable globetrotter and festival lover like us at GV hence the word routine might sound totally distant and unfamiliar.
The experts’ suggestions of performing yoga and meditation, planning daily calls and carrying out activities such cooking and cleaning might not only result boring, they might actually result extremely frustrating for you.
If you haven’t cooked in years and were used to eating refined dinners every night, you might have to keep ordering food in as it could take ages for you to match the quality of what you’re looking for! #WEORDERIN
Nevertheless, if you read the definition of routine, ‘a sequence of actions regularly followed; a fixed program’, you might realise that we have all been following our own routine, so you have to recreate your own!
To help you deal with this seemingly impossible, quite frustrating task, we developed a list of 5 easy steps to keep up with your lifestyle in this Covid-19 era:
1. Keep up with Mother Earth
No matter how “conscious” we have lived and travelled before, there is little doubt we are now at the peak of reducing our impact on the planet. It feels like Mother Earth has sent us all to our rooms to think about what we have done, and we should do some thinking!
Take this period to double check on your regular lifestyle activities and make a list on the impact these had on the planet. Then, being as realistic as possible, write down options on how you could reduce this. Are all those flights and rides necessary? Do you know where your clothes and accessories come from?

At GV we only support brands that are committed to reduce their environmental impact offering long-lasting, high qualitative products that are produced and delivered in the most fair and sustainable way.

2. Keep up with Music
As expert party-goers, there is no doubt that what we missed the most are social mingling and live music. Feeling the urge to support the industry and keep in touch, we teamed up with few recording labels and artists and forged a list of live streaming events from around the world. Spacing from live talks and interviews to performances and virtual experiences you’ll be able to connect with your tribe and share unique moments.

We will keep adding info so make sure to come back to check updated version of The Confinement Entertainment Guide!
3. Keep up with the World

Used to traveling to new destinations each month, we surely suffer a little more than the average person when confined.
Flights have been cancelled and postponed and it’s still hard to guess when and where to your next flight will be.
Yet, as tiny our -most likely chaotic- apartments may feel like, the world is still huge and the tribe still out there.
Here is a list of magnificent virtual tours of world-wide renown attractions for the delight of your sight:
- Incredible views from the top
- National Parks in the USA (rangers-guided)
- The Great Wall of China (requires $5 donation)
- Uffizi Galleries in Florence (360º tours)
- Louvre Museum in Paris

4. Keep up with Knowledge

Since many of us have some “extra time” now, why not using it to grow our knowledge?
Maybe you have always wanted to learn a new or practice an old skill. If that’s the case, we recommend you check our post on Learn to live online where you can dig deeper into what the internet has to offer for your education.
If, on the other end, you rather feel like randomly exploring, then have a look at our Short Life-Hacks Docs, a series of interviews of Gurus who are real experts on the things we like: fashion, music, visual arts. [IG TV link]
5. Keep up with Style

One of the things that might have struck you during these weeks of confinement is that, home, comfy clothes kill your inner fashionista.
We might have initially felt at ease with having to pimp ourselves up much less than the usual, but after a little while, it might have gotten a little out of control.
From uncut hair to surprisingly long nails and/or beards, everyone has loosened up quite a bit.
Filter-free selfies are riskier every day and FaceTime or Zoom calls must be planned ahead to avoid the risk of being caught in the same clothes as the past call!
To tackle this hideous issue there are various steps you can take:
- Revisit (and clean up!) your wardrobe
- Try and perfection new looks
- Discover new brands
- Connect with your favourite brands

We know how hard it can be to deal with such extreme changes in our life, but we still have each other. There are surely many difficulties ahead but that doesn’t mean 2020 got cancelled!
We are not doomed to lose our routines nor our identity, and, in this digital era, we can keep being tightly connected to who and what we love.
Please let us know your thoughts about the suggestions we made or share your own tips to survive the crisis. The tribe is here to listen!
